A recap for those who know me and an introduction to those who don’t
I believe that building genuine relationships with my clients is a surefire way to be able to represent their brand to the best of my ability through social and digital marketing methods.
Therefore, I think it’s vital for potential clients to also get to know me before making any decisions. After all, communication and trust are two of the most important things for an effective partnership and these flow together more efficiently when two parties are well-suited.
So, without further ado, allow me to reintroduce myself…
A little bit about my background
I left school soon after turning 18 when I realised I didn’t have to be there anymore, which meant that I didn’t finish my A-levels.
Feeling stuck in a rut, I knew I needed to start working and try something new, so I started an Estate Agent apprenticeship. After a few days, I already knew it wasn’t for me. The company left me to my own devices and didn’t want to teach me a thing, so I was ready for a new direction.
My first experience in marketing
I applied for a Marketing Assistant position and, to be honest, didn’t hold my breath. I had no experience at all so I assumed my application would be shredded and used as packaging material. However, to my surprise, I got an interview!
The job was based at a magazine publisher, working on the social, digital and event marketing for their 10+ transport titles. I was there for three years, soaking up every piece of information I could gather.
A change (and dip) in my career
Then, I met my now husband. He was moving to Marbella, Spain in three months and asked me to go with him to which I readily agreed. However, over the course of our first twelve months, I struggled to hold down a job as the companies I joined either folded or relocated back to the UK.
In my second year, I finally got back into marketing as a Co-Ordinator for a property investment company. Here, I was able to grow my design and copywriting skills as well as get back into the world of social and digital marketing.
Back into the swing of things
During this time, I’d already had the idea to privately expand my skills and start my own business, but after we made the decision to return to the UK, I knew it would have to wait so I could get a wage steady enough for us to rent a home.
I joined a retail company as a Email Marketing Executive which allowed me to test and develop my skills in this particular area, gradually then moving into the position of Social and Community Manager over the course of the next three years.
I worked with established influencers, communicated with PR agencies, developed strategies, attended seminars, completed courses, created content and built a community for a brand with over 100k followers with a turnover of over a million pounds.
My newfound knowledge and experience combined with our decision to relocate to Thailand provided me with the perfect opportunity to take the leap.
Where I am today
Now, I’m lucky enough to be living my dream. I am the founder of a successful social and digital marketing agency with several wonderful clients and I’m based out of Phuket.
I pinch myself every day that I’m able to do what I love alongside constant adventures with my husband.
